Atasu Maps

Attribution and data licensing

What every map must show, where the data comes from and what the licenses allow.

The attribution every map shows

Text — output
© OpenStreetMap contributors · Overture Maps Foundation
  • The Atasu SDKs add it to every map, bottom-left. It opens expanded, with "OpenStreetMap" linked to openstreetmap.org/copyright. It collapses to an ⓘ button when the user taps ✕, on the first pan / zoom / rotate / tap, or after 5 seconds. ⓘ (also by keyboard) shows it again. This follows the OpenStreetMap Foundation's attribution guidelines. There is no option to remove, hide or cover it, or to start it collapsed. customAttribution (Web) adds your own text next to it.
  • Every other source on the map adds its own credit to the same control. When live traffic is shown, the map also shows © TomTom.
  • If you render Atasu tiles or data any other way (your own renderer, static images, print), show the same attribution, visible and legible, on or next to the map.
  • Data returned by the API carries an attribution field; show it wherever you display the data without a map.

The basemap built from OpenStreetMap is a database under the ODbL: you may use it in your products; if you publicly redistribute a modified version of the database itself, you must offer it under the ODbL as well. Maps and images made from it ("produced works") only need the attribution above. The downloadable basemap file, the list of sources and the method of modification (our open-source build profile and styles) are on the data page.
